The text from Proverbs was given to me by the Chief Elder
while I was in Madison the first time, around 1976.
After working with the Moravian confirmation class in 2000,
I began to describe the verses from Proverbs
as my confirmation text
,
by analogy with the Moravian tradition of giving a text
to each newly confirmed member.
This was not a Methodist tradition, so didn't get one
when I was confirmed.
