We are able to confirm that Helen Ferslev completed a Master of Arts degree at Northwestern in August 1955.  She studied education but the degree name was, at the time, not specified beyond "Arts."

I'm wondering if you can verify a master's degree from 60 years ago.
My aunt, Helen L. Ferslev, recently died and the family is creating a brief history. We aren't intending to create a comprehensive biography, but I would like the information we do publish to be accurate. The current draft is available at http://PivotRock.net/Ferslev/HelenFerslev.html.

While we have her undergraduate diploma from Oshkosh, we don't seem to have complete information about her master's degree. My best information is that she received the degree from Northwestern in 1955.
A non-family source says this was an MLA. (Given her lifetime teaching, I assume that would be Master of Liberal Arts rather than Master of Landscape Architecture! But MLAs would have been quite novel at the time.) In 1955, I was 3 years old and therefore don't remember this accomplishment clearly.
